Group Anna member N Santosh Hegde today saluted Parliament for rising towards the occasion and giving its nod to key aspects of Jan Lok Pal bill, but cautioned that people should "not expect the miracle" as enacting the legislation will "take its time".
He was also against exerting "more pressure" on Parliament about the issue now.
"I am sure they (Parliament) will understand the need for quick enactment because that will bring glory on their behalf (Parliamentarians) also, " the former Supreme Court Assess, who was part of the joint Lok Friend bill drafting panel, said.
"We have achieved the first milestone in having a strong Lok Pal Act and it might take its own time -- it's not something you may expect today, tomorrow or next month, " he stated, adding, "Let not the people of India expect magic. But we have just put the foundation for any strong Lok Pal bill. "
He said what Parliament has been doing for the people of India "at least with this regard... May be because of Anna's efforts.. is actually something great.
"I thank each one of all of them. Parliament has risen to the occasion. We do share part of the victory with Parliament", Hegde, who till lately served as Karnataka Lokayukta, said.
He said the agitation for any strong and effective Lok Pal, spearheaded by Hazare has achieved a great deal. "It's a victory for the people of Indian. Anna has achieved for the people of Indian. "
Hegde said the government should continue to respect the feelings from the people.
