The Mumabi International Airport (MIAL) to host global aviation meet in 2013

The Mumabi Airport terminal (MIAL) has been selected to host the 11th worldwide aviation meet 'Routes Asia' in 2013.

The event is expected to bring in many visitors to the city from airlines, airports and tourism industries who'll discuss and explore opportunities for airline route development, MIAL said inside a statement.

"We are pleased to note that MIAL may be selected as the host airport for Routes Asia 2013. This really is noteworthy, because besides being one of the busiest international airports in South Asia, it has also emerged as probably the most significant aviation hubs in the region, " MIAL Controlling Director and Vice-chairman of promoter group GVK, GV Sanjay Reddy, stated.

The event is expected to enhance Mumbai's status like a critical business hub, besides improving the status of MIAL using the completion of the T2 integrated passenger terminal in 2013.

Apart from, it will also help reinforce MIAL position as the actual country's foremost airport, he said. "Hosting Routes Asia 2013 won't give us the opportunity to showcase airport to a diverse group of industry professionals around the world but also provide tremendous tourism-related economic benefits to the town, " MIAL CEO Rajeev Jain said.

Routes Asia may be attended by leading airports and airlines for the past 17 years since it offers an opportunity for business meetings between airports as well as airlines from Asia.

"We are delighted to bring Routes Asia to India once more as this market is a key strategic focus for that Routes business. We have worked with the GVK team for several years on their presence at our events, " Routes Professional Vice-president for airports David Stroud said.

Routes organises air travel and airport networking events through its regional and worldwide Route Development Forums.

Each year there is one global event and something regional event in Asia, Africa, Europe, the Americas and also the CIS respectively.

Routes were founded in 1995 as the main Manchester-based ASM, a consultancy specialising in the field associated with route development for airports.
