Zinc loses 2.6% in futures trade

Monitoring a weak trend in industrial metals about the London Metal Exchange, zinc prices dropped by 2. 64% to Rs 94. 20 for each kg in futures trade today.

Weak trend within the spot market, owing to subdued need, also put pressure on zinc costs.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, Sept zinc declined by Rs 2. fifty five, or 2. 64%, to Rs 94. 20 for each kg, with a business turnover associated with two lots.

The September contract shipping shed Rs 1. 75, or 1. 89%, in order to Rs 91 per kg in two, 790 lots.

At the London Steel Exchange (LME), zinc shed 3. 1% in order to $1, 881 per tonne in earlier trade today.

Analysts attributed the rise in zinc futures prices to some weakening trend in industrial metals for that second straight day on the LME among concerns that Europe's sovereign debt crisis and also the prospects for slower growth in The far east will hurt demand.
