Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL), Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (MTNL) lost around 6.5L subscribers post MNP

State-owned Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd TOs (BSNL) and Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (MTNL) has lost more than 55,605 customers and 5,84,261, respectively, after June 30 MNP (MNP) was introduced in the country, the government said Friday.

Number of subscribers conducted by BSNL and MTNL networks on amounted to 9,33,750 and 67,198, while those who carry the network had 11,593 subscribers and 3,49,489, respectively, Milind Deora, Minister State for Communications and IT, in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha.

The government launched the MNP services across the country January 20, 2011, allowing all mobile phone users to switch carriers without changing numbers.

Both BSNLa th MTNL has taken several initiatives to keep their subscribers, including measures that represent special cell to contact customers and make their claims costs of carrying the subscriber comes into the network of BSNL and growth points, where customers can make payments.

The companies have also reduced tariffs.

The minister added that the market shares of two power supplies of the phone also fell in the last three years.

While BSNL's market share was 18.98 percent as March 31, 2009, is located at 13.37 percent as June 30, 2011. MTNL slipped by 14.64 per cent for Delhi and Mumbai 20.21 per cent as March 31, 2009, to 9.62 percent and 12.17 percent respectively May 31, 2011.
