Google India, MakeMyTrip, Marriott, Intel and American Express were judged "Best Companies to Work For" in India this year in a study by the Great Place to Work Institute.
According to the study, Google India, Intel, MakeMyTrip, India, American Express, Marriott Hotels are among the five top 50 companies in India, Great Place to Work Institute of India CEO, Prasenjit Bhattacharya said.
Great Place to Work Institute is a pioneer in the study and recognizing the best jobs in the world. For over 25 years and in 45 countries, the Institute has conducted studies to identify and understand the best jobs, reports PTI.
Bhattacharya said the overall expectation of employees remain the same until 2010. Companies are new initiatives to retain talent as Makemytrip.com offers 70 percent ESOP work and American Express have special care program for pregnant female employees, etc.
The top 50 best places to work are concentrated in Mumbai, Bangalore and NCR, but also have a representation of Chennai, Pune, Vizag, Ahmedabad and Ludhiana.
38 of the top 50 has more than 1,000 employees, including 19 of 50 have more than 5,000 employees. Only 12 of the 50 best jobs experienced staff increases over 30 percent in the previous year, and five actually reduced its workforce.
While eight of the 50 best workplaces employing attrition of more than 20 percent, but in all major industries, for attrition in the top 50 on average is less than one-third to two thirds of the average industry, said Bhattacharya.
In general, one of the greatest advances in the culture of work shown by the best places to work in recent years has been in the work-family balance, flexibility to take time off, if necessary, and creatively the design and implementation of policies and practices that are perceived as unique and special benefits for employees.
One of the most difficult areas with the best employers have fared much better than others is a fair wage and a fair share of the profits. Corporate India has loosened its purse strings in 2011 and Top 50 Best Companies to Work this year, 4 percent more respondents in our survey agree with the statement that they are getting a fair share of the profits their companies and 3 percent agree that they are paid a fair job they do, Bhattacharya said.
Fair wages and fair share of profits has seen the biggest dip in our previous study in early 2010, he said.
Bhattacharya also said that the company is now planning to expand its operations in the neighboring countries of SAARC, and perhaps his studies in the corporate segment wise.
