The Indian Council of Agricultural Research plans to adopt GPS tech for appropriate farming techniques

Japanese digital imaging firm Canon has said that it's witnessing a decline in inkjet printer sales within the domestic market, in line with falling personal pc sales, but it hopes to reverse the pattern in October through household sales.

“With the COMPUTER market saturating, the function of inkjets is also diminishing and are also their sales. Declining PC market is threatening this particular segment now, but using inkjet multifunction and services, we will try to increase sales again in the fourth quarter (beginning October), ” the Canon India President and Leader, Mr Kensaku Konishi, told PTI.

Canon will market the sales of inkjet printers to household customers through its exclusive retail showroom, ‘Canon Image Square’.

“At as soon as, our market share of inkjet printers is around 15 percent. We will try to acquire 20 per cent through the end of this year, ” Mr Konishi additional.

The domestic digital printing market is worth close to Rs 1, 000 crore and is growing at 25 percent annually.

Canon also plans to corner a bigger slice from the market for laser printers and copier machines this season.

“Our market share in laser printer segment is 30 percent and in copier machines, we have 24 percent. We are expanding our market share especially for that copier machines to 25 per cent and within laserjet printers, we are trying to get 35 percent of the market share, ” he said.

Cannon is eyeing a revenue of Rs 1, 650 crore this season against last year’s Rs 1, 260 crore.

“Copier machine sales will rise 30 percent from last year and laserjet printers around 6 percent up, ” he said, adding that copier machines and printers contributed to 60 percent of sales and the balance came from digital cameras.
